The UTEP College of Health Sciences, the Department of Kinesiology and the Golden Age Fitness Association (GAFA) sponsor The Miner Dash and Family Fitness Fiesta every year to promote wellness in the community and solidify their commitment to fitness. The inclusion of participants in wheelchairs expands the diversity of the event. Proceeds help programs in the department.

The 5K run/3K walk is partnered with an on-site health fair and fitness fiesta with physical fitness activities on the UTEP campus. This year’s race, for people of all ages, initiates Homecoming activities at UTEP. The route takes participants through the UTEP campus, but starts and ends at Centennial Plaza.
