Osama I. Mikhail, Ph.D., has been appointed interim dean of UTEP’s College of Health Sciences. Mikhail previously served as the interim dean of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health.

He is the senior vice president for strategic planning at the UTHealth School of Public Health, director of the Fleming Center for Healthcare Management, and has been a professor of management and policy Sciences at the School of Public Health since 1989.

The College of Health Sciences prepares community caregivers in a variety of fields including social work, public health, kinesiology, clinical laboratory science, physical therapy, occupational therapy, rehabilitation counseling and speech-language pathology. The college also offers a Ph.D. program in interdisciplinary health sciences in collaboration with the School of Nursing.
