A lane on Sun Bowl Drive south of the University Avenue roundabout will be closed for about two months beginning Monday morning, June 22.
The right-hand, northbound lane of Sun Bowl Drive will be closed from in front of Kelly and Barry halls to the roundabout. Security fencing will separate the closed lane from traffic along Sun Bowl Drive, which will remain open throughout the project.
The lane closure will allow semitrailers to load and remove debris from the demolition of Barry and Burges halls, which is scheduled for completion in August. The demolition will make room for a future interdisciplinary research building that is awaiting funding approval by the Texas governor.
The sidewalk on the east side of Sun Bowl Drive in front of Barry Hall will be closed during this time. Pedestrians will be directed to the west side of the street. The sidewalks in front of Kelly Hall and Burges Hall will remain open.
Travelers are asked to use caution when driving through the area.
