The Black EOE (Employment & Entrepreneur) Journal announced in May 2016 that The University of Texas at El Paso’s MBA program had earned a spot on the magazine’s 2016 “Best of the Best” list.
The recognition speaks to the hard work involved to provide access to a quality education, said Robert Nachtmann, DBA, dean of UTEP’s College of Business Administration.
“This is an indication that the faculty and staff of the College of Business Administration really embrace the core of UTEP’s mission and recognize that talent is everywhere and it is well distributed,” Nachtmann said. “This specific recognition lets us know that the work being done here is recognized locally and nationally.”
UTEP started its Master of Business Administration program in 1973 and graduated its first candidates the next year. Since then the program has expanded to meet the growing and varied needs of its students in the Paso del Norte region. More than 220 students from countries around the world are enrolled in three formats: Accelerated MBA, Executive MBA and Full-Time MBA.
Nachtmann said the program continues to look for ways to expand opportunities for people in this region through new modalities, new formats and new logistical organizational forms. The most recent example is the fast-track B.S./MBA program that initially was aimed at engineering undergraduates and has been expanded to include science majors. The college graduated its first B.S./MBA candidates during the Spring 2016 Commencement.
The Black EOE Journal based its ranking on market research, independent research, diversity conference participation and survey responses.
“The companies and schools that make our Best of the Best lists are committed to helping individuals realize a better future by providing an inclusive environment,” said Mona Lisa Faris, president and publisher of Black EOE Journal.
This is the latest accolade for the MBA program that has earned top rankings from Professional Woman’s Magazine and Hispanic Network Magazine. It was ranked No. 1 by Hispanic Business magazine for best diversity practices from 2010 through 2015, and was named an Example of Excelencia for Graduate Programs in 2012 by Excelencia in Education.
UTEP’s College of Business Administration is the El Paso area’s only school accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business – the premier international accrediting body for business schools.
