Part of University Avenue to Close Temporarily for Road Paving

The University of Texas at El Paso will close a portion of University Avenue on the east side of campus in both directions starting at 5 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, to rebuild the road from the traffic control station to the arroyo near the Union Building.

Contractors will lay a 6-inch base with a convex crown to improve drainage. The work schedule is dependent on the weather. The street should reopen the afternoon of Monday, Aug. 17. The project will not impact pedestrian traffic.

Motorists who need access to the IC-2 parking lot east of the Liberal Arts Building, the IC-3 parking lot behind the Education Building or the IC-7 parking lot behind Union East may enter campus using Randolph Drive and wind their way between the Education and Union buildings and through the IC-7 parking lot if necessary.
