The Registered Nurse-to-Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) online program in the UTEP School of Nursing hosted the first Recognition Ceremony honoring the program’s 43 spring 2016 graduates on May 14, 2016. The ceremony recognized graduates who completed all the requirements for their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.

Out of the 43 graduates, 13 graduated with honors, eight were inducted into Sigma Theta Tau honor society, two were military veterans and one will complete the program this summer. During the ceremony, graduates received nursing pins with the RN-BSN insignia and honor cords to wear during Commencement.

The RN-BSN program was designed for associate degree and diploma nurses to earn their BSN degree online in as little as two semesters. The Recognition Ceremony is planned for the fall and spring semesters.

The Institute of Medicine has recommended that 80 percent of the registered nurses in the workforce be baccalaureate prepared by 2020.
