The Texas Department of Transportation will close Sun Bowl Drive from Dawson Road to the R-2 parking lot driveway from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, for utility projects. Some repair work needs to be done on underground cables near the middle of the road near the Don Haskins Center, and some communication lines need to be relocated to the cell tower near the P-7 Sun Bowl press box parking lot. It is possible the closure will continue into Wednesday, but TxDOT will reopen the road as soon as the work is completed.
Motorists who use Sun Bowl Drive may experience intermittent closures through Saturday, Jan. 18, as TxDOT repairs fiber optic cables along the roadway from just north of Glory Road to the Don Haskins Center. Northbound motorists will be detoured onto Glory Road and those traveling southbound will be forced to turn left on Kern Drive.
