Theatre Students Win Regional Awards for Design

UTEP students brought home several awards for the Department of Theatre and Dance from the regional Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in San Angelo, Texas, Feb. 23-28, 2015.

Rossina Lozoya won the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas Award for Excellence in Technology and Design for her costume design project for the character Ariel in The Tempest.

Zachery Miles won the Region 6 Award for Excellence in Scenic Technology for his work as technical director for The Taming of the Shrew.

Veronica Hernandez won the Region 6 Award for Excellence in Properties Design for her props design in The Taming of the Shrew.

Hernandez, Miles, Lozoya, Grace Bunt, Diana Davila, Marissa Diaz, Miriam Mendoza and Yahaira Roman won the Don Childs Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas Award for their collaborative effort in The Taming of the Shrew. They each will receive a week of instruction of their choice in Las Vegas this summer at the Stage Craft Institute of Las Vegas.

Forty-nine colleges and universities participated in the competition from Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri.
