In UTEP History

Miner Metro shuttle bus service is introduced on campus. Total annual cost is
budgeted at $145,600 for the first year (Aug. 25, 2003), “Minerpalooza,” a student street
festival sponsored by the Alumni Association and the Union Programs Office, is staged for the first time. The six hour event is designed to welcome incoming freshmen to the UTEP campus (August 27, 1994).

Recent Activities

On Campus – The final Bhutan on Campus Walking Tour was held Aug. 23. Participants toured the UTEP campus and learned about the university’s rich history with the Kingdom of Bhutan.  The UTEP Alumni Association held a tailgate to kickoff the Women’s Soccer season.

In the Community –Del Sol Medical Center hosted an “Orange Friday” tailgate to kick off the fall celebrations surrounding the 100th anniversary of UTEP. See photos HERE.

Enter the Centennial Photo Contest – You can now enter your photo in the Centennial Photo Contest. The winning photographs will go on display inside the Centennial Museum as part of the “Centennial Photo Contest” exhibit. The exhibit will be on display from Nov. 8 to Jan. 15, 2015. Announcements – The musical lineup for Minerpalooza has been revealed. Headlining is world-famous and platinum-selling The Cataracs. Prominent electronic dance music, hip-hop producer and disc jockey Tim Gunter also will lend his talent to Minerpalooza. Cristina Eustace,  Matt U Johnson and Fungi Mungle will also be performing.

100 @ 100 – Interviews with Thenral Mangadu (Dept. of Public Health Sciences) and Melissa Colgin-Abeln (Dept. of Music). Tune in this week to hear interviews with German Rosas-Acosta (Dept. of Biological Sciences) and Kathleen Staudt (Dept of Political Sciences).
