Ahead of a anticipated ruling by Federal Court Judge Robert Thomason, the U.T. Board of  Regents unanimously approve ending segregation at TWC while agreeing to explore ending the practice at the flagship campus in Austin at a later date (July 8, 1955),  Mike Brumbelow takes over as Miner’s football coach following Unknownthe resignation of “Jolly Jack” Curtice (July 10, 1950), The U.T. Board of Regents elect John G. Barry president of the College of Mines (July 11, 1931), The Faculty Senate revises guidelines allowing students to challenge their grades in order to comply with federal law and prevent the loss of federal funds (July 12, 1977) .

Recent Activities

In the Community – The Border Museum Association continues the Sixth Annual Museum Scavenger Hunt.  This year’s theme is “Centennial Connections,” in honor of the 100 years of UTEP history. Participants have two months to visit the museums and find the mystery objects. This year’s Hunt includes two dozen museums in the El Paso/Las Cruces/Cd. Juárez border region. The hunt will conclude on July 20 and winners will be announced on Aug. 9.

Announcements – The Centennial Celebration Office is pleased to announce the “Centennial Photo Contest.”  Contest winners will be featured in the Centennial Photo Contest exhibition inside the Centennial Museum. Participants may submit their photos on Aug. 1 through Sept. 12, 214.

*During the Annual Enrollment Mini Health Fair, tickets for the Centennial Night at the Chihuahuas Baseball Game will be available for purchase.
