Texas Department of Transportation contractors plan to close Interstate 10 in both directions near The University of Texas at El Paso next weekend to continue work on the Spur 1966 project. The closure will be from 5 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13. Westbound traffic will exit the freeway at Porfirio Diaz Street and re-enter on the Schuster Avenue entrance ramp to I-10. Eastbound motorists will exit the freeway at Sunland Park Drive. Traffic will be rerouted onto Paisano Drive and can re-enter I-10 via the U.S. 54 ramp. Crews will finish removing the Yandell Bridge and will add permanent concrete barriers onto the Spur 1966 bridge that will connect Paisano with Schuster.
