The Eisenhower Foundation and the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) have selected Nathaniel V. Robinson as a 2016 Zhi-Xing China Fellow. The Zhi-Xing (知 行, or “learning and travel”) program identifies, empowers and links outstanding leaders from the United States and China through a transformational experience borne from the U.S.-China High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE) to build a stronger foundation for greater understanding between the two nations.
Supported by China’s Ministry of Education, Robinson will visit China in October and November 2016. He will investigate the dynamics of various actors including government, social and education organizations, public-private partnerships and policies in higher education as a stimulus to research and economic development, entrepreneurship and social enterprises.
“Being selected as an Eisenhower Fellow is an honor,” Robinson said. “It is really exciting for me, personally, and exciting in what it might enable for our region. I hope to meet many great people and organizations in China and bring back tangible, sharable results to UTEP and El Paso.”
On campus, Robinson serves as assistant vice president overseeing facilities in the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects. His background in engineering includes work at Motorola and NASA.
