UT System Regents to Meet Nov. 5-6 at UTEP

The University of Texas System Board of Regents will meet Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 5-6, in El Paso on The University of Texas at El Paso campus in conjunction with UTEP’s Centennial celebration. The meeting will be held on the third floor of Union Building East, 500 W. University Ave.

Wednesday, November 5

10:30 a.m. – Audit, Compliance, and Management Review Committee

  • Presentation of the Annual Report on the Information Security Compliance Program

11:30 a.m. – Academic Affairs Committee

  • Discussion and consideration of a request to approve the athletics nickname, colors, and mascot for UT Rio Grande Valley
  • Discussion and consideration related to the conversion of the NCAA Division I athletics program at UT Pan American to the athletics program at UT Rio Grande Valley
  • Discussion related to support programs for veteran students at the UT System academic institutions
    • UTEP President Diana Natalicio will participate in this discussion

1 p.m. – Health Affairs Committee

  • Consideration of the approval of $5 million in Available University Funds to support Phase 1 of the UT System-wide Diabetes Obesity Control Initiative
  • Update on infectious diseases, including provision of specialized health care and the current state of preparedness.

2 p.m. Technology Transfer and Research Committee

  • Consideration of the allocation of $12.5 million in Available University Funds for the UT Horizon Fund

3 p.m. – Facilities Planning and Construction Committee

  • Report on the progress of the Task Force on Facility Planning for the 21st Century

4 p.m. – Finance and Planning Committee

  • Discussion related to FY 2014 Performance Summary and Investment Reports for the UT Investment Management Company (UTIMCO)

5 p.m. – Recess

Thursday, November 6

8:30 a.m. – Meeting of the Board in open session

  • Presentation on UTEP and its Centennial Celebration by UTEP President, Diana Natalicio
    • At this time UTEP President Diana Natalicio will invite the Board to accompany her to view the transformation of Centennial Plaza. Media will be accompanied by UTEP Public Information Officer Veronique Masterson to the viewing area for video and photo opportunities. Media is asked to arrive promptly at 8:30 a.m. or before.
  • Report by Stephanie Huie, Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives, on seekUT
  • Presentation of a certificate of appreciation to Chancellor Cigarroa in recognition of his service

10:45 a.m. – Executive Session

1:45 p.m. – Meeting of the Board in open session

2 p.m. – Adjourn
