What: Cyber Café Computer Lab Grand Opening

When: 9 a.m. – noon Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017

Where: Union Building East, Room 204, UTEP campus

The University of Texas at El Paso will celebrate the grand opening of the new Cyber Café Computer Lab in Union Building East.

The Cyber Café Computer Lab is a collaboration between UTEP’s Student Affairs and Information Resources and Planning divisions in response to the overwhelming demand students expressed on their annual student satisfaction surveys for more computers and tech support at the Union.

The new lab is an extension of the Technology Support Center located at the University Library and will offer all the same services, such as on-site support, equipment check-out, poster printing, access to Adobe Creative Cloud and CS6, large desk space, three ADA-compliant stations, plus 36 Dell computers and 24 Mac computers.

“We are very excited to see this new Cyber Café lab open,” said Lizette Gameros, UTEP’s Technology Support director. “It’s been something that both divisions have been working toward because student feedback is so important to us. It is great to now show our students that we listen and that we will continue to work hard to meet their needs.”

During the grand opening celebration, guests will have the opportunity to tour the lab and meet the staff. Light breakfast items will be available and door prizes and giveaways will take place throughout the event.
