Mary Wells, director of the Medical Professions Institute at The University of Texas at El Paso, was selected to contribute to a pre-med newsletter put out by the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Wells mentors students with an interest in the medical, dental, veterinary, optometry and physician fields. As director of the Medical Professions Institute, Wells prepares students for the MCAT – the medical school admission test – and provides help with summer internships and early admissions programs to medical and dental schools.

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) is a nonprofit association that serves and leads the academic medicine community to improve the health of all. The AAMC puts out a monthly newsletter called the Pre-Med Navigator, which features important topics, resources, tips and key dates for aspiring physicians. Wells contributed to an article in the April 2016 newsletter.

The article, titled Advisor Corner: Choosing the Right Letter Writers, gives advice to students applying to medical school in selecting people to write their letters of evaluation.
