UTEP, NMSU to Participate in Annual I-10 Coalition Blood Drive

WEBUNITED-BLOOD-SERVICES-UTEP--2016Students, staff and faculty from The University of Texas at El Paso and New Mexico State University will participate in the 11th annual I-10 Coalition Blood Drive Sept. 12-16, 2016, at both campuses. The event is organized by United Blood Services.

Blood donations may be made at UTEP from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. outside the Undergraduate Learning Center (along Wiggins Road), and outside the Union Building (along University Avenue), and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the Peter and Margaret de Wetter Center.

United Blood Services officials said that the area’s blood inventory is very low and this blood drive could go a long way to replenish the supply. Last year’s drive brought in about 600 units. Organizers hope to get at least that much this year.

Donors will receive a commemorative 2016 I-10 blood drive T-shirt, and UTEP and NMSU will receive plaques commemorating their involvement.

The annual I-10 Coalition Blood Drive started in 2006 as a way to collect blood for the El Paso/Las Cruces region.
