UTEP Official to Present in Philippines about Title IX Issues

ryan-holmesUTEP’s Ryan Holmes, Ed.D., assistant vice president for student support, will make a presentation about conduct, Title IX concerns, sanctioning and trauma-informed investigations during its National Seminar on Student Discipline Administration in Higher Education conference Oct. 28-30, 2016, in Cebu City, Philippines.

The event is organized by that country’s Center for Certification and Accreditation of Student Services. Holmes was invited as a past president of the U.S. Association for Student Conduct Administration (ASCA). He will be joined by ASCA president-elect Jill Creighton of New York University.

Holmes said The University of Texas System has placed a lot of emphasis on Title IX compliance and investigations, sexual assault/harassment, dating and domestic violence, stalking prevention and awareness, and bystander intervention.

“University officials have been working together to sustain and improve (where necessary) UTEP’s response, prevention and awareness efforts in those areas,” Holmes said. “My participation at this conference will continue to recognize UTEP as a leader in these important areas at the institutional, state, federal and global levels.”
