Parker was selected because of his familiarity with the architectural, engineering and construction industries, and his keen insight and invaluable knowledge of project management and the diverse requirements necessary to maintain an efficient department.

“I look forward to the opportunities to build structures and relationships that will serve the UTEP community,” Parker said. “I am proud of what we’ve accomplished during the past seven years and am excited about what lies ahead, especially the completion of the planned Interdisciplinary Research Building.”

He referred to the proposed $85 million, 150,000 square foot IDRB that is set to open in fall 2020.

Parker has been active in professional groups at the local and national levels, having served as a past president of the El Paso chapter of the AIA. He recently completed a six-year term as treasurer on the board of the El Paso Architectural Foundation and continues to serve on the group’s fundraising committees.
