UTEP President Diana Natalicio will accept a $20,000 check from the Consul General of Mexico in El Paso to provide scholarships to Mexican students through the IME Becas Scholarship Program.

UTEP will award new and renewed scholarships to 17 students from Mexico. This is the fifth year UTEP has received scholarship funds from the IME Becas program through the Consul General’s office.

“For 100 years, UTEP has supported the educational goals of Mexican students whose talents have contributed to the social, cultural and economic advancement of the bilateral Paso del Norte Region,” said UTEP President Diana Natalicio. “We at UTEP are grateful for the continued support from our partners in Mexico to provide scholarships to outstanding students whose dream is to earn a UTEP degree.”

The IME Becas (Spanish for scholarship) program was established in 2005 through a bilateral agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico through IME and the University of California, Berkeley.
