UTEP Reminds Football Fans of Tailgating Policies

WEBtailgateThe University of Texas at El Paso football team will kick off its seven-game home schedule against I-10 rival New Mexico State University at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at Sun Bowl Stadium.

The following tips and information concerning parking, tailgating and Sun Bowl Stadium policies are designed to help guide fans’ event planning and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

Inner campus tailgates may start at 2 p.m. while outer lots may begin at 8 a.m. on game day. Tailgaters must enter the Sun Bowl Stadium by the end of the first quarter. One person may stay at each tailgating site during the game if there is a large setup.

Parking during game days is limited to one tailgate setup per parking space that includes the vehicle, canopies and cooking area. Spaces are first come, first served. Tailgating should take place within 4 feet in front of or behind your vehicle. No tailgating is allowed in UTEP parking garages and overnight parking with the exception of ticketed RVs is not allowed on University property.

Glass containers are not allowed anywhere on campus. Kegs, beer balls and other common-source containers are also prohibited on campus and in tailgating areas. No drinking games of any kind are allowed.

During UTEP game days, all laws pertaining to concealed campus carry apply. Sun Bowl Stadium is a concealed campus carry exclusion zone, and concealed handgun license carriers are not permitted to bring weapons into the venue.
