EL PASO, Texas – Kick off the school year with a party like no other! The University of Texas at El Paso’s largest tradition, Minerpalooza, will celebrate 26 years of Miner spirit with fun and entertainment for everyone.

This year’s talent lineup includes headliner Sky (formerly of LMFAO); pop duo Nina Sky; local Spanish rock band SayVerse and the death-defying Motorcycle Globe of Death. Live entertainment will begin with local favorite Azucar followed by the UTEP Pantastics steel drum ensemble.

“Minerpalooza is one of the most exciting times for UTEP,” said Nicole Aguilar, director of UTEP’s Office of Student Life. “We really set the tone for the school year by celebrating what we know will be another great year, welcome all students coming back to campus and engage the greater community.

“With the variety of entertainment, food and attractions, there’s something for everyone. This is a great opportunity for students to see what UTEP is about and for the greater community to show their support.”

Additional festivities will include carnival-style games, inflatable jumping balloons inside Pete’s Playground, a variety of food vendors and food trucks, and a beer and wine garden. Kicking off the event, the UTEP Band and Cheerleaders will lead a pep rally featuring Paydirt Pete, student athletes and coaches.

Last year, approximately 20,000 people attended UTEP’s biggest and most anticipated tradition, and this year even more are expected to join in on the fun!

Admission is free and open to the public.
