Winning design to be awarded by El Diablo driver JP Ruggerio and used in Metro PCS presents Monster Jam brought to you by your local Toyota Dealers at Sun Bowl Stadium
WHAT
Students from The University of Texas at El Paso and Monster Jam fans will be on site to witness the announcement and unveiling of the winning design in the “Crush Van” design contest. To celebrate the occasion and congratulate the winner, Monster Jam driver JP Ruggerio will be on hand alongside El Diablo. El Diablo is one of the newest additions to Monster Jam. The name was selected by fan vote on www.monsterjam.com in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Rookie driver Ruggerio, a native of Southern California who speaks Spanish fluently, was tabbed the driver of El Diablo in its 2013 debut season.
WHY
UTEP students were invited by Monster Jam to explore their creativity by creating unique designs to be painted onto a “crush van.” Entry forms were accepted Feb. 10-14. Students voted for their favorite design Feb. 17 – 21. The winning design will be unveiled and become a part of the monster truck event at Sun Bowl Stadium March 1 and 2. Thousands of fans along with the contest winner will see the design as 18 Monster Jam monster trucks race, jump and crush it during the heart-pounding freestyle competition!
This event marks the celebration of Monster Jam fans combining the Monster Jam truck named by the fans and the design decided on by fellow UTEP students.
