UTEP to Host Ceremony Recognizing Faculty and Staff Service

The University of Texas at El Paso will host the annual Service Awards Ceremony to honor employees for their long-term service to the University. The celebration will take place Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. at Magoffin Auditorium. During the ceremony, Keith Pannell, Ph.D., professor with the Department of Chemistry, will be honored for his 45 years of service to UTEP.

New to this year’s ceremony is the inclusion of the President’s Meritorious Service Award, recognizing outstanding achievement by staff and faculty. This year’s recipients of the President’s Meritorious Service Award are William Robertson, Ph.D., professor of Teacher Education at UTEP; Georgina Antillon, director of UTEP’s Student Assessment and Testing; and the team of R. Joseph Rodriguez, Ph.D., assistant professor of English at UTEP, and Lisa Lopez-Williamson, librarian at William C. Herrera Elementary School in the El Paso Independent School District. Rodriguez and Lopez-Williamson were selected for their collaboration in advancing the goals of Little Free Library, a nonprofit network of free book exchanges with the motto “Take a Book, Return a Book.”

This ceremony is open to the public. An informal reception will follow.
