What Fans Should Know For UTEP’s Football Home Opener

EL PASO, TEXAS – The UTEP football team will kick off its five-game home schedule against Incarnate Word on Saturday (Sept. 26) at 6 p.m.  Here is important information for fans planning to come to the game.

Tickets: Season tickets are still on sale, starting at $55, by calling (915) 747-6150.  Individual game tickets, starting at $12, are available by calling (915) 747-5234.  UTEP students can register for their free ticket via sportslottery.utep.edu.

Game Promotion: Saturday is Youth Band Night with a special halftime show featuring students from all local middle and high schools.

Getting to the Game: Sun Metro is offering six Park and Ride locations with direct bus service to all UTEP football home games for $3 round trip fare. Locations are as follows: Mission Valley Transfer Center (9065 Alameda Ave.), Westside Transfer Center (7535 Remcon Circle), Union Plaza Transit Terminal (400 W. San Antonio), Northeast Transit Terminal (9348 Dyer Street), Eastside Transit Terminal (1165 Sunmount Drive) and Edgemere (near R.C. Poe). Free Parking: Free parking is available in the following lots: S3 (south of Sun Bowl Stadium), and P1, P2, P3 & P4 (on Schuster Avenue).  A courtesy shuttle is available to and from the south lots only.

ADA Parking: ADA parking has been relocated from R6 north of campus to the P3 south lot lot off of Schuster Drive by the new roundabout of the SPUR OF 1966. Shuttles will be available from the parking area to the press box for patrons with ADA tickets in sections 1-5. Shuttles will also be available from the parking area to the North Sun Bowl entrance for patrons with ADA tickets in sections 13 & 15. Both shuttles start running two hours before kickoff and resume operation at the end of the third quarter until all patrons are serviced.

Tailgating: Tailgating is permitted on outer campus lots beginning at 8 a.m. on game day. Tailgating is permitted on inner campus starting at 2 p.m. For more information please visit www.tailgating.utep.edu.

Centennial Plaza Usage:The University of Texas at El Paso’s employees and students take great pride in their campus. They are especially proud of the new open spaces created through the recently completed Campus Transformation such as Centennial Plaza, the Geology Lawn and the area in front of Old Main. These popular spots may be used starting at 2PM for picnic-style activities that involve spreading a blanket and enjoying prepared foods.For everyone’s enjoyment we ask fans not to use grills, chairs of any kind, canopies, tents, tables or partake in organized sports activities in these areas. For your convenience we have designated spaces on campus where these activities can take place. Please visit our website for a user-friendly map at tailgate.utep.edu. Tailgating at Kidd Field:Fans can tailgate in style with their friends, family or business associates on Kidd Field, located just east of Sun Bowl Stadium. Kidd Field tailgate tents are available for parties of 50 or more, starting at just $425 for each home football game. Each tent rental includes tables, chairs and the option to reserve your own caterer for each event.  The Miner Athletic Club also has a tailgate at Kidd Field. Single game and season passes are available and each includes a meal, drinks, special giveaways and pregame atmosphere. Prices are $100 (adult season pass), $25 (child season pass), $20 (adult single date) and $5 (child single date). Play Area at Glory Field: For fun before the game, visit Glory Field and experience the Miners’ new FieldTurf Classic HD CoolPlay surface.  Fans are welcome to play on the new turf.  No tailgating permitted at Glory Field.

Miner Alley: Miner Alley is the perfect spot for fans, students and local sponsors to convene before the game. Located between the UTEP Bookstore and the parking garage off of Sun Bowl Drive, Miner Alley opens four hours prior to kickoff on game day. Tailgating is encouraged.
